Former North Carolina Attorney General and Secretary of State, Rufus Edmisten, has endorsed Senator Terry Van Duyn in her bid to become North Carolina’s next Lieutenant Governor.
In a release to the media, Edmisten stated, “Terry has been serving honorably in the State Senate for the last six years. In that time, she has not forgotten where she comes from. She has fought for Medicaid Expansion, she has fought to protect the beauty of our mountains, the brilliance of our coast, and all of the farmlands and streams in between, and most of all she has fought for a better education system for all of our children.”
Edmisten continued, “I am endorsing Terry because I know that she is the most capable candidate and is willing to work with Governor Cooper to get North Carolina back on the right track. As Lieutenant Governor, Terry will be the ally we need to raise teacher pay, balance the scales for working families, and expand Medicaid to the 500,000 North Carolinians that lack access to affordable health care.”
Senator Van Duyn currently represents Buncombe County in the State Senate. She served as Democratic Whip for two terms and was the lead fundraiser to the Senate Democratic Caucus when she partnered with Governor Cooper to break the republican supermajority.
