I was proud to stand beside Governor Cooper as he signed Executive Order 95, which guarantees 56,000 state employees paid parental leave. Governor Cooper’s pro-family approach to governing is exactly what North Carolina needs, and that is why I am running to become his Lieutenant Governor. These polices not only make happier state employees, it improves health outcomes for both the parents and child.
Governor Cooper’s leadership is how we actually take care of families in North Carolina, instead of the Republican plan, which calls for more tax-cuts for the rich, rollbacks to family planning, and a failure to stand up to corporate polluters that threaten our health.
With the budget debate waging in the State Senate, I implore my colleagues to put our surplus to work and expand Governor Cooper’s vision to all state employees, instead of more tax breaks for the super-rich.
